We put in an order for one of these ages ago, when we first heard they were being made. For one reason or another production was delayed, but one finally came through the door the other day.
It looks great, and definitely looks the part; the frame is made from Reynolds 525 tubing, and sensibly, Raleigh have specced it with a modern Campagnolo Veloce group, along with Record hubs laced to Mavic Open Pros plus the newly re-issued Cinelli Criterium bars, 1A stem and San Marco Concor saddle.
At £2000 it’s not a cheap purchase, but is definitely one for anyone wanting a piece of cycling history with a touch of class. Only 125 of these have been made (for Raleigh’s 125th anniversary) and we have one of the 54cm models. Pop in and take a closer look.
And here’s a pic of one of the originals, just to compare.
